Challenges and Triumphs: Boyd Anderson Races at Hillend!

The Boyd Anderson races at Hillend on December 4th and 6th, 2023, were a showcase of resilience, skill, and remarkable performances. The event unfolded with its fair share of excitement and challenges, particularly on a tricky, slippery course that put competitors to the test.

Linlithgow Primary School secured a commendable third place overall, and within their ranks, Anwen shone as the third fastest girl, displaying both determination and speed.

Special mention to Low Port Primary team also who competed with three Primary 2’s – making them one of the youngest teams on the day. They skied brilliantly and we look forward to watching this young team grow.

Meanwhile, the boys' team from Linlithgow Academy secured a noteworthy second place despite facing the challenging conditions. However, adversity struck when Isaac unfortunately suffered an injury during the race, requiring immediate attention and a trip to A&E, where he was fitted with a splint. His courage in the face of adversity embodies the spirit of the competition.

In the fiercely competitive arena, the total time of 82.48 seconds for the Academy boys' team showcased their remarkable effort. Boroughmuir narrowly clinched victory with a time of 78.01 seconds, with Kinross closely following in third place at 84.19 seconds. The competition was intense, with mere fractions of a second making all the difference.

The Boyd Anderson mixed team, on the other hand, demonstrated exceptional teamwork and skill, clocking in a total time of 65.58 seconds, landing them a commendable second place. Boroughmuir claimed first place by a slim margin of 0.13 seconds, with Royal High securing third place with a time of 73.94 seconds. Their performance reflected incredible dedication and teamwork, just narrowly missing the top spot.

All teams, Linlithgow Primary School, Low Port Primary, the Academy boys' team and the Boyd Anderson mixed team displayed outstanding sportsmanship, determination, and teamwork, securing brilliant wins amidst stiff competition.

All in all, the Boyd Anderson Races saw a brilliant effort from all the Linlithgow schools. The skills and team work shone through and everyone who competed did Linlithgow – and Polmonthill Sports Club – very proud!
